hampshire is the nation's first. be sure to stay with your local election headquarters here on local 5 for results. nikki: as we first told you last night, some major changes are coming to the des moines entertainment district. a stronger police presence will be coupled with better lighting and more cameras to secure the area. tonight, we're taking a closer look at the security features. local five's jacob peklo joins us with more. jacob? jacob nikki, nine cameras might not sound like a huge difference. but at this week's press briefing, we learned the city made a lot of changes to its ordinances to reach further than ever before. and it's all being done to make visitors and regulars feel more welcome downtown. the test apparatuses." recently, he's worked with schools and businesses. and his company's latest venture will put $95-thousand dollars worth of cameras and equipment downtown, at no charge to the city. mark clark, president: "we basically stepped in december and said we have some interest, it was amazing how quickly it all came together." his company assessed the downtown to see just how powerful the cameras needed to be to respond to potential crimes. mark clark, president: "they're not going to be anything that shines up in your windows or buildings, they're just going to be checking the people that are on the ground." city leaders say those cameras will be kept at a secured court avenue building. . chris coleman, city council member: "we keep the bad elements out and keep the people that want to come down and have a good time, coming and enjoying the weekends and the evenings on court avenue." natural sound of justin berkley: "doing a different angle." justin berkley has lived and worked downtown for more than half of his life. justin berkley, gm of court avenue brewing company: "i have never seen a physical altercation in the time i've spent down here. now, am i saying there never was one? no. but i have spent a lot of time on this street, but that was absolutely the exception to the rule." natural sound of ice dropping into glass but still, the gm of court avenue brewing understands the

jordan: the top-ranked centennial girls have been rolling. since a 20 point loss to johnston, the jags have won 8 straight, 4 against ranked teams including last night versus #5 waukee.... tonight another tough matchup welcoming in #3 iowa city high... jags down 42-36 heading into the fourth. but here comes the rally. they go down low to tasha vipond who goes off glass and in for two. then it's rinse and repeat. meg brandt finds vipond again who gets the friendly bounce. centennial would knot things up at 42. but the little hawks answer. ashley joens buries the corner three to put city high back up 3. they'd go up 5, before vipond cuts into the lead again. but the jags coudln't overtake the hawks.

down the stretch and down goes #1. city high snaps centennial's 8- game win streak, 54-48, boys hoops, #7 ankeny and #2 valley in a game that was originally set for last tuesday... valley up 19-9 after 1. but back come the hawks. chris mcleod somehow works his way for the scoop, the score and the foul. now from valley, quinton curry down low, fights off about three defenders for his own board and gets the putback. then it's curry feeding it to john raridon. the future nebraska football star, can also ball it up. call coach miles! but the hawks would come back to tie the game on this three by connor riordan! valley would retake the lead briefly as the would be alley oop finds raridon who lays it in for two. but ankeny was thinking upset tonight. mcleod ahead to trystan cummins who soars in for the slam!!! ankeny up 34-29 at the break, and they score the huge win over valley tonight, 69-58!

iowa state just doesn't make it easy on itself. after two straight losses, the team announced center jameel mckay has been suspended indefinitely. an already short bench gets even shorter for the cyclones. isu on the road facing oklahoma state... first half was just ugly! after starting 0-5 and trailing 10-0. deonte burton gets the clones on the board with this three. then it started raining threes! matt thomas. hallice cooke. monte morris. then one more from thomas to tie it at 18. osu though would take a 24- 22 lead into the break. 2nd half. georges niang came alive. 2 points in the first half. here he nails to transition 3! isu would go up as much as 13! but here comes osu. tavarius shine drops in the three. cowboys go up by 1. but isu answers. monte morris knocks home the step back. he had 16. to go along with

panthers up 13 at halftime. paul jesperson knocks in the long two! uni up 10. back comes drake, reed timmer with two of his team high 18 on the day. bulldogs within 8. but that's as close as they'd come the rest of the day. uni was just unconcious shooting. matt bohannon drills the three. lead up to 11. then it's jesperson splashing in another triple. panthers lead by 14. more from bohannon. again from beyond the arc, drops in another for three. and then one more from jesperson. he led all scorers with a game high 21 points, including 5 three pointers. every single player that attempted at least one shot for uni shot 50% or better from the floor. uni makes it 4 straight wins, 82-66 and appears to be getting back to that team we saw beat unc and iowa state earlier this year... "i don't think there's any question. i think what we've seen in the last couple. the way we defended southern, the way we defended evansville, the way we played offensively today and not just with two or three of our guys. we're getting there now through our whole roster where guys are playing with some confidence again
